Year Out Drama Company

Why Choose Us?

Years of Success

With a twenty-one year record of success, Year Out Drama provides a challenging opportunity for all those wishing to enjoy an intensive, practical, full-time drama course with a unique Company feel. Our students consistently go on to gain places at top universities and drama schools.

Links to the RSC

You will benefit from our close links with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Actors, directors, voice specialists, stage managers and other experts from all aspects of theatre production give talks, run workshops and offer advice.

Practical Projects

Students here are always engaged in the preparation of a wide range of performance based projects. In addition there are usually two main productions each term. The various techniques and experiences gained through rehearsal, workshops and performing is a key element of the course. Our students gain from the experience of working with visiting directors and theatre professionals who bring a wide range of techniques to the course.

Theatre Trips

We include an impressive number of theatre visits in the course, to broaden students’ perceptions and knowledge of theatre in practice. Typically between fifteen and twenty trips are arranged each year, to acclaimed productions throughout the country. Last year we visited London, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, and Bristol, plus regular trips to Warwick Arts Centre, which hosts a range of international touring productions and innovative small scale work. Of course, you’ll also be able to see everything the Royal Shakespeare Company has to offer. The price of tickets and travel is included in the course fees.

Edinburgh Festival

Our final project is presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, traditionally performed in the well known, central C Venues theatres. Year Out Drama has a string of positive reviews for the work we’ve presented over the past decade.
